NEW Juvederm Voluma for Cheek Augmentation
Newly released Juvederm Voluma XC offers a non surgical alternative to cheek augmentation.
What is different?
I have added this new filler to my cosmetic practice for patients who wish to have a subtle cheek lift with virtually no down time. This is longer lasting form of hyaluronic acid (HA) that can last up to two years, unlike the regular Juvederm that we are familiar with for laugh line improvement.
How is it done?
When you come in and we determined that you are a good candidate for cheek augmentation with Juvederm Voluma XC, I will mark the area on your cheeks that we want to enhance. Then as usual, we clean the area with alcohol and apply a topical numbing cream. After 7-10 minutes, Voluma is injected in small amount over the cheek bone starting from the sides to where the most prominent part of the cheek is medially. Voluma contains a numbing medicine which will reduce the discomfort as it is injected. The area is then massaged for evenness and voila! You can see the result instantly.
How many syringes I need?
We will start with one syringe and see if you need more. Most of my patients require at least two syringes; up to four for patients who have really flat cheeks. Beyond that, I do not recommend using Voluma and offer fat grafting as a better alternative for cheek augmentation. The reason is that fat will give a longer lasting result, feels natural and we can use a lot more.
