Tummy Tuck

Childbirth, genetics, and weight loss can all leave excess fat and skin around your midsection.

A tummy tuck is a powerful plastic surgery that can slim, flatten, and contour your abdomen.

Houston, TX, trusts their tummy tucks to our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Azita Madjidi.

Just What Is a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy tuck is the layman’s term for the surgery known as abdominoplasty. Abdominoplasty is performed to remove excess fat and excess skin as well as to tighten abdominal muscles. Abdominoplasty is very popular with patients who want to refine their waistlines following significant weight loss or pregnancy.

The Aesthetic Society reports that there were 242,939 tummy tucks performed nationwide in 2021. This made tummy tucks the third most popular aesthetic surgical procedure in the country.

Find Out If You Are a Good Candidate Visit Us for a Consultation

Dr. Madjidi never recommends procedures that are unsuitable for a patient. When you come to her Houston office, she will evaluate many areas to determine if a tummy tuck is right for you.

She will examine your medical history and all-around health to find any potential risks for an abdominoplasty. She will also make sure that you are maintaining a stable, near-ideal weight and that you are not planning to have any more children. Pregnancy and weight fluctuations can both expand the abdominal wall and cause stretch marks, nullifying tummy tuck results.

Tummy Tuck Recovery

Tummy tuck recovery takes approximately four to six weeks. You should expect some mild to moderate discomfort, swelling, and tightness. Dr. Madjidi provides detailed recovery instructions to help her Houston patients get through this period and achieve the most out of their procedure. These include:

  • Take some time off from work
  • Avoid physical exertion for at least two weeks
  • Do not submerge your incisions in water for three full weeks
  • Wear compression garments 24/7, except when showering or bathing
  • Make sure to walk around the house every so often to keep blood flowing

Dr. Madjidi places drains along the abdominal wall to rid your body of excess fluids. She will provide detailed instructions on how to handle these for the several days they are needed.

What to Expect From Your Results

/

Tummy tuck improvements are immediately apparent, and finalize within six months of surgery. The results of a tummy tuck can last for a lifetime as long as they are maintained through a healthy lifestyle.

We Also Perform Mini Tummy Tucks

A mini tummy tuck is a less invasive alternative to a traditional tummy tuck. Mini tummy tucks are a more targeted surgery and only improve the area underneath the belly button.

Despite its limited scope, a mini tummy tuck can still provide noticeable abdominal definition. Mini tummy tucks also require smaller incisions, produce less scarring, and result in a swifter recovery than the traditional option.

While a mini tummy tuck offers many benefits, it is important to keep its capabilities in mind. They do not address the area above the belly button and cannot provide the same level of improvement as a full tummy tuck. They are also unsuitable if you have already had children.

Dr. Madjidi will recommend the best surgery for your unique needs.

Tummy Tucks Pair Perfectly With Several Other Procedures

Pairing a tummy tuck with a complementary procedure can achieve truly transformative improvements. These are two especially in-demand combinations:

Tummy Tuck With Liposuction

Some patients struggle with more fat deposits than a tummy tuck alone can address. Thankfully, they can still receive abdominal contouring by pairing fat-removing liposuction with a stomach-flattening tummy tuck.

Tummy Tuck in a Mommy Makeover

A mommy makeover is a personalized combination of several plastic surgery procedures. It may include a tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lift, and non-invasive skin tightening. Mommy makeovers can tighten excess skin, eliminate fat, address stretch marks, and more.
