Enhance Your Appearance with Surgical Nose Reshaping
If you are interested in reshaping your nose to better complement your facial features, rhinoplasty, performed by Dr. Azita Madjidi at her Houston, Texaspractice, can give you a beautiful new appearance.
The Rhinoplasty Expertise of Dr. Azita Madjidi
One of the areas that Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Azita Madjidi specializes in is the nose. “The nose is the central structure of the face, and its role is not to attract any attention. When you look at someone’s face, attention should be focused on the eyes and not be diverted by the nose.”
The Goal of Rhinoplasty
Besides its functional role in breathing and phonation, the nose is also an essential aesthetic piece. Some have noses with a hump, or that are deviated, too long or too short, or too wide at the tip, or asymmetrical. The goal of nasal surgery is to create a nose that improves the overall balance of the face. A weak chin or flat cheeks can give the appearance of having a large nose even if the nose is well proportioned to the rest of the face.

The Rhinoplasty Experience
During the consultation for rhinoplasty, Dr. Madjidi will listen carefully to your concerns, analyze your face, and identify a realistically achievable goal.
Nose surgery, also called rhinoplasty, is not a uniform procedure and needs to be adapted to each individual based on his or her skin thickness, the anatomy of the bony and cartilaginous structures of the nose, prior surgeries, and overall facial balance. A nose that seems appealing to you on another person may not necessarily look good on you.
Sometimes the shape and function of the nose is altered by a previous injury, tumor resection, or previous surgery. Other times a congenital malformation can lead to nasal deformities, such as cleft lip/nose.
Dr. Madjidi has received extensive training in rhinoplasty, both in Europe and in the United States. She is familiar with multiple techniques and will chose the best one for your needs. Incisions are usually hidden inside the nose and in some cases between the nostrils.
“I personally perform the surgery and follow my patients during recovery.”
The Structures of the Nose Rhinoplasty Can Alter
In rhinoplasty, different structures of the nose may be changed. In removing just the hump, the bony and cartilaginous parts of the bridge of the nose are removed. However, if the hump is large, the sidewalls may need to be narrowed as well. When changing the tip of the nose, the bony structure may not be altered.
In selected instances, fillers or fat grafting can be used to bring minor changes to a nose, such as smoothing the bridge or up turning the tip. More extensive changes require rhinoplasty. this is sometimes referred to as a liquid nose job.
What to Expect During Your Rhinoplasty Consultation
Dr. Madjidi will go over all of the details of rhinoplasty pertinent to you. She will go over your pictures and the anticipated changes. However, the images are for demonstration purposes only and do not reflect reality because they do not take into account the quality of your skin, the strength of your cartilages, the thickness of your bone, their length, or your healing characteristics. They can help communicate but will not represent the final result.
Dr madjidi was very kind and informative. She truly cares about her patients and thoroughly informs them. She answered all of my questions and didn’t make me feel rushed at all.
Recovering from Rhinoplasty
Post-operative swelling or bruising varies depending on which structures have been changed and the amount of work that was done. It also varies by individual. The most visible part of the swelling goes away in a few weeks to a month but the nose will feel stiff and firm from residual swelling for several more months.
Rhinoplasty is done as an outpatient procedure. It not a painful operation but it is uncomfortable for a few days following surgery. Bruising should subside in a week or two. The majority of the swelling is gone in six to eight weeks, but it will continue to subside over a year to 18 months. Since the healing process is sometimes unpredictable, a revision may be necessary.
Rhinoplasty is a highly personalized procedure that can involve using a variety of techniques. The amount of work needed to attain the patients desired results will vary between every case. Dr. Madjidi does offer financing options for our patients to make the payment process more manageable.
