Preparing for your plastic surgery
The following tips are there to help you prepare for your upcoming plastic surgery with me.
Book your surgery when you are healthy.
You don't want to be recovering from a cold. Give yourself a few days to rest.
Supplement your diet with appropriate vitamins and minerals Before and After surgery.
During the healing phase, your body requirements for many vitamin and minerals increases.
Eat more protein in your meals.
Choose high quality protein sources like fish, chicken and beans.
Do not take certain supplements.
Fish oil, garlic, ginger, echinacea and many other herbals prolong bleeding time and interfere with anesthesia drugs.
Arnica and Bromelain supplement before and after surgery.
They are part of my protocol for surgery to minimize bruising and reduce swelling.
Drink plenty of water.
It is important to stay well hydrated prior to surgery but not after midnight prior to your surgery. Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 72 hours prior to your surgery and until a few weeks later.
Avoid Aspirin and ibuprofen 10 days prior to any procedure.
Aspirin, aspirin-containing products and non steroid anti inflammatory medication are blood thinners.
Build a support structure.
Get assistance from your family or friends during your recovery. You may need help with house chores or emotions. I'd love to meet with them and give them appropriate instructions to help you the best way.
Positive thinking and a good attitude always help!
