Dimple Surgery Houston
Accentuate Your Look with a Classic Contour
If you would like to accentuate your facial features with a dimple, dimple surgery at Dr. Azita Madjidi's Houston, Texas office can give you this classic attractive feature.
Dimples over the cheeks can give a touch of cuteness to the face and are in general aesthetically pleasing. Naturally, they can appear only on one side or both cheeks, and be of various number and depth. They are natural adhesions between the skin and the deep muscles so when we smile and contract the muscles, the skin is pulled in. Most cheek dimples are not present at rest. Dimples can be created accidentally by a penetrating trauma through the cheek but they can also be created surgically. The surgical procedure to create dimples is very easy and straightforward when done properly.

The Dimple Surgery Process
Houston plastic surgeon, Dr. Madjidi can perform dimple creation surgery in her office under local anesthesia.
Dimple creation surgery can simulate this naturally occurring process. First the desired location of the dimple is marked over the skin. Some patients chose to have it on one side only and some prefer dimples on both sides. The inside of the cheek is numbed with a local anesthetic. A small incision is then made in the inside of your cheek. There is no incision or scar on the outside skin. A small absorbable suture is passed through the inside of the cheek and catches the undersurface of the skin where the dimple is desired. When this suture is tied it causes a dimpling in the overlying skin. You can see the dimpling right away. At first there is a dimple present at rest even without smiling, but after several days, or sometimes a few weeks, the dimple is only present while smiling or moving the face. It will seem shallower. The scarring between the inner skin and muscle will cause a permanent dimple even after the suture is absorbed. However, the depth of the dimple varies depending on the amount of fat in the cheeks and your muscle anatomy. The sutures used are absorbable and fall in a few days.
Dimple creation surgery can be done on any type or size cheek. You can decide where the dimple will be and Dr. Madjidi will see if this is an appropriate place for it. Even if you already have a dimple and would like to have it deepened, it is possible to do so. Dimples can be removed with a small procedure to release the skin.
Dimple creation surgery can be done in the office with just a local anesthetic. You will be comfortable and awake throughout the entire dimple surgery. Dimples can be made in conjunction with another procedure that requires anesthesia as well. It takes about 20 minutes to perform dimple surgery, and you can return home immediately afterward.
Dimple creation surgery is safe and effective, but also potentially reversible. There are minimal complications with dimple formation aside from a little bit of swelling and bruising. You should be able to resume your normal activities the following day. Dr. Madjidi will give you a prescription for antibiotics for a few days after your dimple creation surgery in order to prevent infection. The pain is in general manageable with just Tylenol. Immediately after dimple creation surgery, you will need to wait until the numbing wears off before you eat because you may bite your cheek without noticing it. You will need to avoid hot and spicy food for about a week.
People consider getting dimple creation surgery for various reasons. Most are doing it to brighten their smiles. This option is available and people can have it done in less than an hour with almost no down time.
