Fat Transfer

Conveniently located to serve Houston, Sugar Land and Pasadena

woman with red hairWith a fat transfer procedure, Houston cosmetic surgeon Azita Madjidi can use your own excess fat cells to reduce the signs of aging or enhance your figure. Dr. Madjidi can use liposuction to gently remove fat from one area of your body and use the extracted fat to fill in facial creases, or to enhance other areas of your body, such as your breasts or buttocks. Because this procedure uses your own fat to augment your features, it is extremely safe and effective. To learn more about fat transfer, contact our office today.

Fat Removal

Before your treatment, you will undergo a thorough consultation with Dr. Madjidi. Together you will determine the best areas from which to remove fat cells for transfer. Some of the most common areas for fat removal include the stomach, thighs, and upper arms. Dr. Madjidi can help to determine if these areas provide enough fat to achieve the desired augmentation.

How Fat Removal is Performed

Before surgery begins, an anesthesiologist will administer IV sedation or general anesthesia (this option will be discussed in a consultation). Next, Dr. Madjidi will create tiny incisions in the treatment area, through which she will insert a small cannula. This tool is gently moved back and forth, physically loosening fat cells before gently suctioning them out. The harvested fat will be purified and cleansed before it is transferred elsewhere in the body.

Recovering from your Fat Removal

During your recovery, you will be provided with special compression garments to help the fat extraction site heal properly. There will be some swelling and bruising around the area that will slowly subside over your recovery. Most patients need around a week or two to recover.

Facial Fat Injections

Dr. Madjidi will then inject the purified fat into the area that you wish to enhance. The face is one of the most common and successful areas for fat transfer. Fat cells can fill in sunken cheeks, as well as deep creases in the forehead and around the mouth. This procedure is also an effective way to fill in acne scars and other skin blemishes. Many patients choose to receive a fat transfer in conjunction with a facelift, brow lift, or other cosmetic facial treatment.

Other Options for Fat Injections

Dr. Madjidi uses fat transfer to enhance other areas of your body as well. A butt lift can incorporate fat transfer to give you a shapelier posterior. Your doctor may also use fat transfer to perform breast augmentation, using harvested fat instead of breast implants.

Benefits of Fat Transfer

Fat transfer has a number of significant benefits:

  • Safety: Because the procedure uses your own tissue, you will not be at risk for allergies. If you are using fat transfer as part of breast augmentation, there is no risk of capsular contracture.
  • Long-lasting: Fat transfer provides long-lasting results. Your fat contains stem cells that assist in regenerating tissues that develop with you.
  • Recovery: This procedure requires little or no downtime.

Perhaps the most important benefits of a fat transfer are an enhanced appearance and boosted self-esteem. After a fat transfer, you can look younger and feel more confident than you have in years.

Fat Transfer Procedure Cost

During your consultation, Dr. Madjidi will go over the expected cost of your fat transfer in Houston. The exact cost of your fat transfer will depend on several factors like the areas of the face being treated and the extent of the liposuction performed. We do offer financing options for our patients.
