Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles
If you are interested in treating fine lines and wrinkles with injectable treatments, Prevelle® Silk, administered at our Houston office serving Pasadena and Sugar Land, may be an excellent solution.
Injection therapy with soft tissue fillers can restore facial contour, or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Different fillers are now available in the market such as JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and Restylane Lyft; however, if you are not sure if you are going to like the changes and have never had any filler before, Prevelle® Silk administered at our Houston office is a great way to start. Contact us today to learn more.
During consultation, Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Azita Madjidi will listen to your concerns and explain different forms of fillers that would work for you; it could be one of the commercially available fillers.
Prevelle® Silk, like JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and Restylane Lyft, is made of hyaluronic acid but it is much thinner; as a result, treatment only lasts about three months. This could be an advantage however, because it is much cheaper than the other ones. So if you do not like the changes, it is gone in three months and you have not spent much money. But if you do, next time you can get longer lasting filler. Prevelle® Silk contains lidocaine which is a numbing medicine that reduces the discomfort of the injection.
The Prevelle® injection is performed in the office after full evaluation of the areas of your concern. The best area to treat is the nasolabial creases, commonly called the "laugh lines" or the "parenthesis" around the mouth.
Prevelle® Silk, Restylane®, JUVÉDERM®, and Restylane Lyft are made of hyaluronic acid – a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, and one of the major components of the dermis, along with collagen and elastin. Prevelle® contains a lesser concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid and is less concentrated than Restylane®, JUVÉDERM®, and Restylane Lyft.
Allergies are extremely rare to Prevelle® Silk because it is free of animal products and the body recognizes hyaluronic acid as not foreign. Skin testing is not necessary. However, if you have a history of severe drug allergy, allergy to lidocaine, or gram positive bacterial proteins, you should not get Prevelle® Silk.
A topical anesthetic will be placed over the area that is to be treated. Ice and pressure will be applied for a few minutes in order to prevent and minimize bruising and swelling. Patients who take aspirin, ibuprofen or other non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, or warfarin prior to treatment may notice increased bruising at or near the injection sites.
An evaluation at two weeks is recommended to see if there are areas that need further treatment.
Fillers may be combined with each other at the same time or at different times.
Swelling should subside after two to five days, or in case of fat injection in one to two weeks. The results are temporary and could last from three to six months based on the area treated and individual patient factor.
