Restore a Youthful Appearance to Your Forehead and Eyelids
Azita Madjidi, M.D., M.S., P.A. performs browlift surgery at her Houston, Texas office, and is proud to serve patients from Sugar Land, Pasadena and around the world.
When the low position of the brows contributes to hooding of the upper eyelids, a browlift may be the answer. One of the problems with sagging brows is that patients have to constantly lift their brows in order to better open their eyes. This causes transverse forehead lines to appear. Most patients are not aware of the eyebrow sag, called ptosis, until it is pointed out to them, by preventing them manually from raising their eyebrows.
If BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to treat forehead transverse lines formed because of the effort to raise eyebrows, the eyebrows will sag even more and weigh more over the upper eyelids. Lateral sag of the eyebrows also contributes to the lateral hooding of the upper eyelid. When lateral hooding is minimal, BOTOX® injections can help to lift the lateral brow to some extent but its effect will be temporary and limited.
If you do not have much lateral hooding and just want the lateral brow to go up a bit, then BOTOX® Cosmetic can make that happen. During consultation for brow lifting, Dr. Madjidi will analyze your face and see what your options are, and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

A browlift provides a subtle change and restores a more rested and youthful look. It can be performed alone or in association with upper eyelid surgery or a facelift in order to improve overall aging around the eyes. Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Azita Madjidi performs this operation through limited incisions either at or behind the hairline, or in the upper eyelid crease. If there is too much skin, a longer incision may be necessary.
The ideal and aesthetic position of the tail of the eye brow in women is about 1 cm above the orbital rim. It is just at the orbital rim in men. If the eyebrows are low and only the upper eyelids are lifted, the distance between the eye lashes and the eyebrows becomes short and unattractive in women.
Many patients are not aware of the low position of their eyebrows. This is why Dr. Madjidi spends a great amount of time discussing with you your particular facial features and what needs to be addressed in your particular situation. All different options will be discussed during the consultation and you will have a clear idea of the anticipated changes.
In some cases, skin resurfacing procedures such as chemical peel or laser can further refine the results of browlift. In some instances, Dr. Madjidi may also use BOTOX® Cosmetic before and after surgery to make the results last longer. Sometimes, the brows can be lifted and their orientations changed without surgery, through careful placement of BOTOX® injections.
After surgery, swelling should resolve in two to four weeks and the final result will appear in one or two months. The sutures placed in the hairline are removed about a week or 10 days later and the scar will be hard to find after about three to four months.
If you are self-conscious about wrinkles in your forehead, or if a sagging brow is making it difficult to fully open your eyelids, a browlift performed at our Houston, Texas office may help you. Please contact us to schedule a consultation.
