Achieve a Slimmer Body Shape

woman covered in blue sheetIf after having followed a diet and exercise program you still have localized areas of fat, liposuction, performed by Dr. Azita Madjidi at her Houston, Texas office, can help you achieve the body tone you desire. The liposuction technique was first developed in France, where Dr. Madjidi trained and practiced before she moved to Houston and retrained. Today, different techniques of liposuction are available. Basic liposuction, using manual or power assisted canulas, and liposuction using ultrasound or laser technology are all different methods available for different needs. Dr. Madjidi can help you define areas of the most concern and choose the best technique to treat them. VASER® Liposuction

If you are interested in body contouring and think you may be a good candidate for liposuction, consider VASER® liposuction. This advanced technique uses ultrasound technology to gently liquefy fat before it is removed. In addition to allowing Dr. Madjidi to target even the most stubborn pockets of fat, this type of liposuction is extremely precise and targets only unwanted fat cells. By reducing trauma to the surrounding tissue, VASER® Liposuction offers minimized discomfort, reduced bleeding, and a shorter recovery period.

Your Liposuction Consultation

During consultation for liposuction, Dr. Madjidi will listen to you carefully and discuss different options with you. She will see whether you are a candidate for liposuction. If liposuction will cause excessive skin laxity and skin elasticity is lost, it may be necessary to discuss removal of such skin excess or to not perform liposuction at all. Loss of skin elasticity is witnessed by the presence of stretch marks. Liposuction will make stretch marks even more noticeable and the skin becomes looser after treatment. When there is a large roll of skin in the lower abdomen, liposuction alone may not give you the best result.

Liposuction can be applied to the neck, back rolls, flanks, waist, abdomen, breasts, arms, hips, buttocks, thighs, knee areas, and the calves. It can be performed alone or in conjunction with another procedure to improve the overall result.

With a modified liposuction technique, Dr. Madjidi can use some of the unwanted fat removed from certain areas, process it, and transfer it to areas of your body where the fat has been lost over the years. Cheeks, laugh lines, and circles under the eyes can greatly be improved with your own fat during the same session.

In order to achieve your goals, Dr. Madjidi will let you know what the safest way to proceed is. More than one session may be necessary to reach your desired result. Based on the area itself, the number of areas of concern, and the amount of liposuction needed, the procedure can be done in the office as an outpatient procedure, or with an overnight stay.

"My priority is my patients' safety."

Dr. Madjidi will go over the risks, benefits , and cost of liposuction, as well as detail the post-operative care. A compressive garment is necessary for some time after the surgery. You can expect most of the swelling and bruising to be gone in two to four weeks with the final result in about six months. Once the swelling subsides and the healing is completed, some areas may require revision.

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure; it is done to improve body contour by reducing excessive bulges or fullness in certain areas. You may not see much difference in your weight before and after liposuction. However, you will notice a difference in your clothing size and how they fit you.

The removed fat will not come back, but in case of weight gain, the remaining fat cells in other body parts that have not been suctioned will enlarge.
